Activities

We build activity sessions around the hobbies and interests of our residents. Painting, cookery, sewing and flower arranging are always very popular, but some of our residents have also embraced new technology such as emails and video calling to maintain contact with loved ones living further away or abroad.

Exercise is also a very important stimulation for our residents. Armchair exercise along with music is offered regularly within our weekly exercise session and is designed for careful movement of joints and muscles.

Here at Oriel we have a variety of quality entertainers and visitors offering music, dance, pantomimes and entertainment for our residents. We have sing-along, easy listening, swing, classical singers and choirs. Music is always a very welcome component to our programmes and looked forward to by most of our residents.

Included amongst our regular visitors are local clergy from all denominations offering Holy Communion services once each month to residents.

Oriel enjoys organising many events throughout the year, such as our well-known Summer Fete, Easter celebrations, party nights, and Bank Holiday fun days. The residents’ birthdays are always a party time and of course, Christmas is always a very special time for us all.

Our activity plan helps residents lead a stimulating and fulfilling quality of life
